The Whisker Family just got a little bigger!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 26, 2019 at 01:59:23 PM

The new IR Array Thermal Camera Whisker gives your project heat-vision in an 8x8 array of temperature output using the Infrared Array Sensor Grid-EYE AMG8833 sensor! This can be used to detect the passage of humans, animals, and keep track of how hot your PC is getting.

SPECS:

  • Temperature detection of 2D area: 8x8 (64 pixels)
  • Digital output of temperature readings
  • Human detection up to 7m
  • Temperature accuracy: High gain: Typical ± 2.5°C Low gain: Typical ± 3.0°C
  • Setup time typical 50ms, time to stabilize typical 15s
  • Viewing angle typical 60° ± 5.6°

Note* You can also use this shield without the TinyDuino – by clipping the connector off the opposite end and soldering the wires to another board, you can use it with the microcontroller or dev board of your choosing!

**We'll be using Backerkit at the completion of the campaign, which will let you add any specific Whisker like this one or additional kits to your order!**

New Custom Fitness Tracker tutorial using Whiskers!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 25, 2019 at 05:17:52 PM

Check out our latest tutorial and learn how to create your very own custom fitness tracker using Whiskers!

For our custom fitness tracker, we chose to use the Accelerometer Whisker, Pulse Oximetry Whisker, and the LRA Motor Whisker (tiny vibrating motor). Our goal was to track our steps using the accelerometer and issue notifications using the LRA. Then, using the pulse oximetry whisker we would be able to measure your heart rate and blood oxygen level. In addition, we created a sleep tracker functionality! By observing the nightly movement of the user and their heart rate, we were able to measure sleep quality and duration.
